I was led to the darkness conjecture through my independent investigation of:
- the distinction between indigenous and industrial (civilized) cultures (via the works of Joseph Chilton Pearce, Bruce Chatwin (The Songlines), Russel Means, Prosper Waukon, Jean Liedloff, Daniel Quinn, Ward Churchill and John Zerzan)
- philosophical and spiritual traditions (Objectivism, Tantric Hinduism, and animism, via books, wise elders, and friends)
- Natural Hygiene (the 180 year-old American school of health that gave us respect for simple food, fresh air, regular exercise and bathing, and other ordinary conditions of health and healing, which Hygiene holds viewed as identical. Via the works of Herbert Shelton and friends)
- organic and dymaxion design (via the father and mother to me and the works of Frank Lloyd Wright and Buckminster Fuller)
and through:
- seven darkness retreats (two successes, two semi-successes, three failures), with the aid of elder, Finn Po and several friends in the US and Guatemala)
- eight seconds spent in dreamtime in late 2008 (with the aid of elder, Adrian Wolfe)
